Her Tears

She sits at 3 am wondering why
The marks don't fade on her cheeks
Why tears are like tattoos permanently etched to her skin
She scratched but doesn't win, they are there forever

How she wished her lips could kiss
Away the the scars like our parents did
When we were young and wild
Telling us that our pain would become
Theirs, our little minds believed it
Now nobody takes our nightmares away

Cause parents are too strict
Scared to listen to our shit, but our words
Are lost in dialect, clink 1 for English
Cause nobody is listening
It's an automated voicemail, saying please call back in an hour

But an hour's too late, her eyes water
She can't get through to the parents who birthed her
She wonders why they never tried to get to know her
Cause when they do it isn't proper, she must be behave

Yet they don't see the bags under her eyes, saying schools to hard to survive
But maybe it's the thoughts she cannot hide
Cause they didn't want to listen, they didn't want to hear those words
Come out of their perfect child's mouth

They wanted to believe she was perfect, that when they heard her crying during the night it was nothing
When they saw scars, it was the cat
But they never had a cat

When she sits there in the dark while claws
Of loneliness dig into our thighs; angry
And mad reminding her of the only
Friends she had
The darkness holding her tightly, while
Her parents sleep in bed

Like a puppet on a string, pulling her along
Guiding her down a path, filled with thorns
No remorse as they smiled their wicked smile
As her parents yell at her for the choices she made, regret fills her inside

She watched her tears become fuel
For nights of endless insomnia
Listening to the sound of the clock
Ticking in the background
Shadows on the wall move
The breathing of the person next to you
That you cannot see

The feelings emitting from your chest
That will not leave, close to exploding
Your  so damn close to exposing the nightmares
Behind your vocal cords, lost in a mind
Filled of pain, trying to break free from a cage

Years of the same routine,
Depression holding you in, but letting you go
Just for you to grasp the taste of happiness, until it pulls you back into the darkness
The abyss of hell called your thoughts

Where your taunted
Your not safe anymore, filled with
Terrifying images you cannot ignore
Yet you smile and keep quiet
Convince yourself you're okay

Cause nobody will stay and listen
Cause when you speak, you should get help
If you yell, your going through a faze
It'll change, but when?

By pills prescribed by a doctor
Which makes you feel inhuman
Or blood dripping from the bathroom floor
From a blade buried deep in the back of your mind
Be medicated or give in
Suffer or be insane

Life is a endless pain machine
That she can barely live in
Yet she chooses to stay alive
Because of the eyes of those she loves
Yet she just wants somebody to listen
To the pain she feels inside

Cause who else will listen
During those dark and lonely nights
Listen to the painful words, you don't want to know
Cause without the light, the darkness becomes her only friend
